Certainly. As root,

echo "1"> /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward

will enable forwarding.

The client will need an IP address. If that is provided by a router, you are done. If not you can configure DHCP to supply the client an IP address, or you can set one for the client manually.
route
will list your routes. You need to create a route to the client PC. If you are on a LAN from the router, that will likely be OK already.

If you have a firewall up on the Linux box, you might have to change some things.

Typically a LAN set up this way will look like:

ISP >>>>ip of eth0 LINUX box ip of eth1 >>>> switch>>>> LAN ...clients

and the Linux box could issue IP addresses to the LAN or fixed addresses could be set manually. A Linux box makes a good router and you can put firewall/web cache/kid/site filters on it.

Wireless Laptop > patch eth cable to linux box > linux box shares the wireless.

The wireless laptop would behave like a router or ISP. Is it giving out IP addresses to the Linux box via DHCP? Is it running Linux or that other OS? The other OS calls it Internet Connection Sharing, but it is essentially the same as the Linux recipe I gave.
