how do I setup speedtouch modem


Can anyone please tell me how I configure my speedtouch modem (I can't afford to change it at the moment)
I've downloaded and configured the driver but can't suss out how to get the bloody thing working. Any ideas anyone? (I'm a linux newbie so you'll need to go easy on me, thanks

I dunno if this helps but here's what the log says:

Suse Mela pppd (smpppd-ifcfg), , Verson 1.50 on Linux
Status is: disconnected
trying to connect to smpppd
connect tp smpppd
Status is: disconnected
Status is: connecting
pppd(0) : Plugin pppoatm.so loaded.
pppd(0) : Plugin passwordfd.so loaded.
pppd(0) : connect (0.38) : Resource temporarily unavailable
pppd(0) : Failed to open 0.38 Resource temporarily unavailable
Status is: disconnected
pppd(0) died: Serial port open failed (exit code 7)

Any ideas anyone?

Hi,

it depends on what speedtouch it is... some works very well, some are quite hard to configure and some do not work at all

sorry - it's the speedtouch 330 (purple sort of color)
I've managed to instal the drivers / run the speedtouchconf.sh script but still no joy. Three days I've sat here - but I ain't moving til it's done n dusted ('cept to go to work, lol)
Any help will be gratefully received.

Edit:Be sure if your isp is using pppoa or pppoe and if the 0.38 is the right vpi/cpi values of your country.And what type of authentication your isp uses(PAP or CHAP).
I couldn't connect to internet because i didn't leave space between the "usrname@isp" * "passwrd" and the asterisk.I had them close.
