How do i setup a mail server for linux?

I was using an ok email server program for windows that worked good but very functional... what linux app would i use to set my box up as an email server?

depends what functionality yuo want. as linux uses a modular approach to running stuff, you'll need a number of different smaller programs which work together to make a "mail server" for smtp access you want sendmail/qmail/postfix for imap or pop3, use which ever servers you prefer... it's all up to yuo as to what you want to do with it.
