How do I have FTP access to my site on Fedora?

Hi,

I just setup my new Fedora machine w/ Apache. I now want to have FTP access to my site so that I can design a website. When I FTP in to the server, it takes me to default ftp location. How do I set up FTP access to my site and give myself read and write access to it?

Thanks

that will be either proftpd or vsftpd, so check which one you do have installed, e.g. by checking "rpm -qa | grep ftpd" or some other quick way and then read up on it's documentation. more often than not it's just a case of setting it in it's config files in /etc which are typically obviously commented.

personally i'd suggest removing the ftp server and using sftp over ssh instead. less services to attack and all that.

Set up instructions

I was hoping for set up instructions. I know what I have i.e. vsftpd

My confusion is where do I define the users who will have access to the web site's directory and how do I give them access privileges so that they can both view and upload files to that directory?

This may sound basic to you guys but I'm new to Linux and my 2 Linux books or Google searches produce no answers to my question. My research gave me answers on how to give "everyone" access to a folder but not for a particular user.
