smbtree -S

"smbtree is a smb browser program in text mode. It is similar to the "Network Neighborhood" found on Windows computers. It prints a tree with all the known domains, the servers in those domains and the shares on the servers."

nmap -sS -vv 10.0.1.0/24(replace with your local ip range)

This will tell you what hosts are up, and what ports are open.

If your looking just to see whats out there, change the -sS to -sP but this will only work if they are set to respond to ICMP echo requests (Ping)
