The first thing you will need to do is get your network card up and running (if its not already), then get yourself the details of your LAN and any proxy settings you may need and that should be it.
If you provide details of what network card you have and tell us about your LANs connection to the web and tell us what distro you are using then we should be able to offer far better instructions.
cheers
Jamie...

1) distro =, distribution for example redhat, amndrake and suse are different distro's. simple as that.
2) network.. well, you've actaully got a rtl8029 as rtl8092 doesn't exist... that uses the ne2k-pci driver on tour system, but you don't need to know that.
ok, things to keep you going i guess..
run 'ifconfig'. this will list all the network interfaces running on your manchine. you'll see one for 'lo' and (maybe) one for eth0. eth0 will be your network interface. You'll need to make sure this is configured properly, such as haviong the right IP address and such like. I'd guess that you'd need to use a dhcp server to get your ip address for you? if so, i dunno how to configure for that. if not, you can pick your own, just make sure it's not taken. After that you need to set your gateway to the gatyeway server you use. These things can be set up in 'linuxconf'.
well.. that shoulkd be enough for a while.

Intranet setting
Hello all,
I want to know to set the wingate, dns, ip of my comp in linux?
I don't see ifconfig can do that. I must setup the wins and dns to connect to the intranet in my lab and then get on net by proxy.

I'm afraid your english requires a bit of imagination, but erm.. i think i get what you mean.
how big is the network you're connecting to? if it's a big company they'll probably have their own dns server, and dhcp servers running. so talk to your sysadmin abuot it.. we can't help you with that.
like i said, you can configure other stuff using linuxconf
