How can i make Squid to authenticate username and password ?


Hi Everyone ,

i have linux box running redhat 9 .And i am

running squid in that , so how can i make squid to

ask username and password when they are connecting

through squid .Helping this issue will be greatly

appriciated

Maybe you should install webmin and webmin-squid that way you can check out all the options available in squid..including authenication ...settig up squid through webmin is really easy...you could also authenicate per mac address...

Hi,

You can use a modular ncsa_auth which is comes with squid tarbal it is not coming with default instalation i.e rpm. you can download squid tar bll from squid-cache web site. and commpile that tar ball then you can configure your squid as a authentication base proxy.

Better you can make use of WEBMIN in which lot of things can be handled with ease.
But can you tell me how should in config squid to other systems & making this system as a proxy server.
