Question How can I limit bandwidth and also measure my bandwidth available

Specifically I am using wget to mirror websites. I have enough of a list for it to be ongoing for days at a time.

I would like to limit each instance of wget that is running to take up some amount of bandwidth. How can I do that.

Overall I have a Gigabit ethernet adapter and have about 3 computers on the modem that are separate from oneanother. JUst sharing same internet connection.
Usage on all 3 computers goes up and down all day. I can't limit or do anything with the other computers, but I want to make sure my wget connections stay stable. How can I enforce this usage on my own computer. I do have access to the router, but I understand, that first I want to make sure it works fine directly in my computers network configuration.

How do I do all this?

oh and how can I list my maximum bandwidth?

did you try to look for an answer on the net?
did you try to read the man page of wget already?
