Hotel Style Web Access Login Advice Please

Howdy, folks. I'm seeking proper direction on setting up an open source solution for a hotel where guests get redirected automatically to a welcome screen the first time they attempt to access port 80, and are forced to agree to terms of service before their ports open up. I've done some Googling on this, but am coming up short, most likely because I don't know what to call this concept. Would Squid do something like this?

Any advice is much appreciated. Oh, my preferred flavor is Ubuntu.

If you don't mind doing some reading and setting it up yourself,
take a look at http://www.carltm.com/netmasq.

Within the readme files are instructions to set up and configure
iptables and apache to do just what you describe.

What you want is a "Banner" (see here and here for some details). Basically, when anyone tries to log onto your system they are presented with a banner that details the terms of service...to get past that banner and log on, they have to press a button that you can lable "I accept these terms". That covers you from a legal perspective.

You may want to use PAM (on Unix/Linux systems) to control who can log on and what they can do.
