Unhappy Hostname resolution not working

Well, here's my problem:
My Linux computers (3x - 1 RH 9, 1 RH 8, and one MDK 8) have been on our home network, but now for some reason all of the sudden they can't see each other via hostnames. I can ping it via IP, but if I try ping <hostname> then it says something about hostname not found. Can anyone help me with this? My windows computers can resolve the hostnames fine, but the other stuff don't work.

Has anyone else had this problem?

P.S. The linux computer will resolve the hostname if I put an entry for the computer in /etc/hosts
