Hostname changing
I want to change the hostname of my Linux box, but will I need to restart inetd in order to get the change happening?
I really don't want to have to reset the machine - it's running important stuff. |
No you shouldn't need to restart just use the hostname command:
hostname my.hostname.com Then add an entry for that domain beside the loopback address in /etc/hosts |
ok if u did that and change the /etc/host.
i do a ping sweep or a scan and it shows up as unknown what then? can u post a simple temlate how it shown be? on my server is for local use and a cafe for a CS Game Server. |
