hopeless ipmasq.... please help....


i followed all the steps in http://www.tldp.org
but whenever i type:
/etc/rc.d/rc.firewall-2.4


External Interface: ppp0
Internal Interface: eth0
loading modules: - Verifying that all kernel modules are ok

ip_conntrack_ftp, Using /lib/modules/2.4.18-14/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_conntrack_ftp.o
insmod: a module named ip_conntrack_ftp already exists
ip_conntrack_irc, Using /lib/modules/2.4.18-14/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_conntrack_irc.o
insmod: a module named ip_conntrack_irc already exists
iptable_nat, Using /lib/modules/2.4.18-14/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/iptable_nat.o
insmod: a module named iptable_nat already exists
ip_nat_ftp, Using /lib/modules/2.4.18-14/kernel/net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_nat_ftp.o
insmod: a module named ip_nat_ftp already exists

Enabling forwarding..
Enabling DynamicAddr..
Clearing any existing rules and setting default policy..
FWD: Allow all connections OUT and only existing and related ones IN
Enabling SNAT (MASQUERADE) functionality on ppp0

thats it...... thats what comes up whenever i type /etc/rc.d/rc.firewall-2.4
i followed every single step written @ http://www.tldp.org
i connect to the internet using dialup...
i also changed the eth0 to ppp0.........
changed the gateway of my win2k to the ip address of this RH8 machine...
and also the DNS...
please help me...

are you actually connecting to the internet through the win2k box? (you did mention you can connect)

if so type

iptables -F (to flush all current chains)

then rmmod all the modules that you get errors on ip_*

then run it again, you should have no errors

your only getting yours errors coz the modules are already loaded all the rules are fine

sorry there seemed to be a f*@k up did you lsmod or rmmod? you should rmmod
