I wanted to give a heads up about this modem. My cable provider switched to these modems cause of many Motorola modems failures. I did not know about the network printer issue till I tried to print from my laptop I got a failure to access device message. Long story of troubleshooting. though it was a issue with linux mint which runs on my laptop till I tried my macbook and the same issue occurred. I researched this brand on the web and i than discovered it was the modem. It appears this modrm is not network printer friendly. I tried the fix which did not work for me. Thing was i could print from my win7 system just fine reason was it was not wireless it was eithernet connected.
The only way i fixed this is dig out my netgear N900 and used it as the wiresless access turned off the wireless on the modem connected all wifi devices print as the should. Onceci did this change the win7 would not print 0_o more troubleshooting duh connect the win7 to the N900 fixed. Here is a link to the purposed fix
I'm not completely clear about what your problem was here. Was the printer associated with the new AP successfully? Perhaps client isolation is (was?) the problem here? If so, that can be employed to stop two wireless devices from being aware of each other, and it will stop a printer broadcast from being detected for example. Having said that if you know the printer's IP address and configure CUPS accordingly, then you should be able to reach the printer without issue.
This was information of the issues with Hitron CGNM-2250 modem brand which does not support multicast and networked printers will not be detected.
I fixed the this issue by using my Netgear N900 router as a wireless point and disabled WiFi on the modem. I had to delete the current printers on all computers than add the printer back on each computer than all was good. The purposed fix with the mac address did not work in my case which is the URL link. Understanding that users may not have access to another router which maybe the mac address may work some some.
