Hijack PDC role with Linux Samba server?

Hi -

I've been messing w/ Samba to try to figure it out well enough to get it connected to my college campus' WinNT network in the fall.
Is it possible to hijack the PDC role from a Windows machine by setting the OS level high enough in smb.conf? I know that a Linux box can always beat out a Win9x box for the local master if the OS level is set above 2. I've also read that all it takes is a value over 32 to beat out an NT machine. Is this the same for an XP server, or has Microsoft changed that, or was my information just incorrect? Thanks everyone.
