High Availability Cluster IP...

Hello,

I am a newbie to HA but seem to be learning fairly quickly. I seem to be confused on the server's actual IP and the cluster IP. The main server is 172.16.31.2 and the backup server is 172.16.31.3. I have in the haresource config file to use 172.16.31.2 and when starting heartbeat it spits out all sorts of warnings and tells me to get help if I don't know what I'm doing. (Linux seems to have a cold sense of humor)

My question is, what is the cluster IP? Is it not a physical device, just an IP that different physical devices/IP's serve for redundancy/load balancing? If that's the case, should I change the server IP's to something like 172.16.31.4 and .5? 172.16.31.2 is the IP our DNS entries point to and also our firewall.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Ok, no comment. I think I figured it out anyway.
