Hesiod records in DNS (Fedora)

Hi

Does anybody has exeprience with putting hesiod records in a DNS server running on for instance Fedora Core 4. I would like to put the /etc/passwd database into DNS for my small home network. I don't feel like digging into LDAP. The Hesiod DNS approach seems relatively straightforward.

Any help or pointers are welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Hans.

Kinda solved, but.... let me rephrase my question

Hi,

Adding hesiod data into your DNS is actually easy as long as you use the IN class and not the HS class. I read that people consider the HS as deprecated. (Note in your /etc/hesiod.conf file you have to specify that you want to look in the NS class as well: classes=IN,HS)

Anyway, because I am curious. Let me rephrase my question. How can I configure DNS (named/bind 9.x) to have HS zones as well. It found that you have to play with views, but I couldn't comprehend it completely. So, any DNS experts out there that want to educate me for free ;-)

Hans.
