Hi all
I have a freebsd box including a name server, on a dsl line with static ip's, there are 3 domain on it working fine. someone had set the box up for me last year, can't get a hold of him
I register a new domain 10 days, go thru all zone mx setup etc... run it thru dsnreports.com everything looks o.k. but I can't ping the ip, and the domain won't come up, what ammm I doing wrong. something is missing but I can't figure it out.
well an ip address has nothing to do with a domain name as such, so if you can't hit the ip address itself, forget about the domain name for now and worry about that... how are you even supposed to be using this IP address?

the ip is an sbc dsl package, static set of 125 ip's, I have a test box I use at the home,
server ip .1
ns1 ip .2
ns2 ip .3
domain1 ip .123
domain2 ip .124
domain3 ip .125 these are set and working fine
I wanted to add
domain4 ip .122
dsnreports says zone mx etc... o.k.
but I can't get the box to respond to the set ip of the domain
well what have you done to make it respond? how is your LAN architecture configured? is this subnet, a /25 i assume, the basis of a physical lan you managed? in which case i guess you've got to look at firewall rules and configuring the address itself. and this is a linux forum, not a BSD one, so we aren't necessarily able to help you with BSD network config.
