Hmm. I have only ever set this up the other way around, but if it's somebody else's pc with the web access, I guess you have no choice!
As far as I am aware, Windows ICS assumes that autoconfigured IP addresses will be used (ie 169.254.x.x/16). Windows ICS shares are broadcast using netbios, which you are unlikely to pick up! I would imagine that you could get this to work by giving yourself an ip address on network 169.254.x.x (subnet mask 255.255.0.0) and setting your default gateway to the ip address of the XP machine (which you can get by typing 'ipconfig' at the cmd prompt in XP).
If the XP machine is not on network 169.254.x.x (Subnet mask 255.255.0.0), just have a look at the result of ipconfig on XP, and give your linux box an address on that segment (Same subnet mask as XP, just change the last number of the ip address!) Set your default gateway to be the ip address of the XP machine.
As I say, I am just guessing here, but imagine that this should work, as ICS seems to be just a simplified NAT router.
