Help with samba inheratable permsissions
what is the Ultimate linux samba server distro ( post #1)
I would like to run my own linux samba server but I would like to not have to have inheratable permissions all the time. I would like it so that some users cannot go into certian sub folders.
I have a 3ware 9000 sata raid card
and it is on a dual athlon mp tyan mobo
I am fairly new but I have done samba on linux before, but never
with non-inheratable permissions.
please help.

if you setup samba as an NT domain, and have the client machines join the domain then you can create domain security groups and assign permissions accordingly.

I actually dont have one, That is my post, I am trying to find out what distro is the one that supports non inheritable folder permissions, just the same way windows 2000 does.
and then, once I find out what distro to use, I want to know how to set it up.

well the distro is irrelevant
what is, is the version of samba
as long as you have version 3.x you should be fine
i will take this opportunity to offer slackware as your solution.
i would boot with the test26 kernel and install the test26 kernel, that should recognize your sata controller
