help with router Bridge mode

Hi ,

I set up apache on suse and after many unsuccesfull attemps to openthe ports with the crappy Seimen speedstream 6520 router i decided to buy a new router (d-link di-524).

my plan was to use speedstream as just a modem and use dlink to handle the PPPoe and routing functions and then allow http access .

i put the speedstream in briged mode and then connected my dlink router and entered my usename and passoword for internet . it wont connect at all ... when i checked the logs it showed that it is trying to connect but is not able to ....

so just to be on the safe side i removed all my login information from the speedstream router and then connected the dlink router but still no connectivity ....

i also read in some other thread that if my dlink router is handling the PPPoe connection then the "internet" light on the speedstream router wont light up .... but in my case it always does

as being a novice in networking im not that familiar with the actuall meaning of terms like bridging .....

so ill appreciate any help that i can get .... it's getting quite frustating now ... and one more thing .... bell tech support sucks !!

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
