SUSE may have some special way of doing this, but this should work on any distro.
First check and see if your ethernet card is working (as root):
If you see eth0 there, you're okay. If not, try bringing it up with:
If it says that the device doesn't exist, your card isn't supported, or your kernel doesn't have the module. Note that once you've configured rp-pppoe (below), eth0 should be brought up automatically.
Once you've gotten your ethernet up, configure rp-pppoe:
It will ask you a number of questions, most of which are self-explanitory. It will ask you for DNS servers - if you weren't given any, try entering
server. You can start the connection with:
There's probably a way to do this automatically in SUSE, but I'm not sure. Some distros call ADSL a service. If SUSE has a service manager, see if ADSL or PPPoE or rp-pppoe are in there.
