Help specifying proxy info on Debian 3.1

I have just installed Debian. No Desktop, just using the shell.
I installed it via a network install.
I am on a network at work that needs to have proxy info specified.
The installer asked for that info, I entered it and it worked.
I am unable to get on the net now.
Where can I specify my username, password and proxy server and port?

Thanks

there's no real system wide point to define this. for low level apps (links, apt, w3m), you can specify the "hhtp_proxy" environmental variable in your .bashrc or similar location. higher level applications (firefox, konqueror) would get their details from thir own private settings, or maybe settings held by their relevant desktop manager, e.g. gnome or KDE control panels.
