help: setting up proxy (http) or socks www ,ftp, telnet etc....

hi,

i am now battling for weeks with this #### problem:

What i am trying 2Do is : Setting up my linux system to FIRST connect to a
public WebProxy/Socks4-5 proxy before BROWSING a webpage.
Or do anything else. (like ftp, telnet etc)

And send the response (http, https, telnet, ftp etc...) back to my
pc to the program. (ftp, www browser pop3 mail client etc...)

i know its possible to setup, heck even in mozilla i can make it work.
(like everybody ;-) )

anyway i want that to work in linux for all my networking services.

All help welcome !
