Arrow Help Selecting CAT5 and CAT5e lan cables


hello

my questions is that i have to select cat5 and cat5e network cable , one dealer send me some 10 feet lenths cable to check and select cable.

please guied me what is the best way to check network cable quality.

for exemple if we select any Processor , normaly we check or confirm following specfications.
speed, L1 and L2 cache, Hz, type, etc.

if is there some standard for testing a lan cable please tell me.

Have a look at www.cabletesting.com ... the installation standard is ISO 11801

Also, a couple of extra points...
Check the cable is easy to strip without damaging the internal wires or the plastic coating. Some cable brands come with an extremely heavy cord inside that is almost impossible to cut free and will get into the connector.

Also check the cable is able to untwist itself if you make a loop from it.
Many times pulling cables you will get a loop that just pulls into a sharp kink, damaging the cable...

And try rubbing the cables together. It is quite important to choose cables will little/no friction between each other..

Also a little nit-pick, but check what kind of end-clips they have. Snag-less are much preferred (they don't have the exposed clip to snag on things) but if it is snag-less, make sure you can easily slide back the sheath to unclip it from a device if necessary. Some of them have such inflexible clip-covers that it's extremely difficult to remove the cable from a device after having plugged it in.

That's a pretty minor aspect, but it can be annoying.
