Help - Please !!!

Hi all,

I have this assigment to do for my computing course : -

Scenario

A web server is required by an organisation for its intranet. The webmaster will be supplying the main structure and navigation while individual users will maintain their own areas. Some of these will in the future require interactive facilities.

Question

Use a web server to provide services to a range of users.
This should include: password controlled access to own areas for uploading and managing pages.

---

What configuration do I need to do in order to achieve this???

Do I use Virtual Hosting on both Apache and Proftpd??

Please help me - Lots of detail if possible :)

Sorry but most of the members and mods here don't like doing others homework. Have you checked out the docs on apache ?

yep - I have checked out the docs and eveything....

Np - I have a few work arounds in mind - Apache does not actually provide the ability of uploading files etc, and so proftd needs to be configured.

Thanks for the reply.

Apache...

Not sure if im helping or not, but Apache does allow you to do web hosting, although you can't actually "upload files into apache"(im going off what you said..im not really sure) , anyone with a user account on the machine(assuming Linux) has the ability to ftp to their account (given ftpd is running...but i hear it has security issues), im not sure when your project is due but check out the book Professional Apache...it has a section on hosting web sites...i have the book but didnt care to read that section because im not doing any web hosting so i cant comment on its usefulness.
