Hi,
if money is a big problem, then you could consider using WiFi instead of a wired network... it needs a bit more config (security, morevoer at a doctor's office) but depending on the environment, wiring may be very expensive.
as for the harware and soft to use, i think you should explain a bit more what the network will be used for, what bandwidth will be needed (roughly)... it is definitly needed to size machines and soft (if your doctor as a few dozens customer, then Oracle may not be mandatory...)

A couple things about this post: 1) It would be helpful if you gave a lot more information about what the business needs of his office are; 2) If you are skilled in this type of thing, posting here for suggestions may be appropriate. If you aren't skilled in this type of thing, you need to get professional assistance. Otherwise you're going to give the doc a 24-month headache when nothing is working correctly.

Thanks fr_laz.
Yes money is big problem. But we are going to with wired network and way.
the Hardware I need is:
One server, one 24 port swith, a router, and a Pix or some sort of security solution.
As far as software, He already both Dentrix which is the main software to run the bussiness. it is a suite of software ment for Dentist.
is it memory and cpu intensive. unfortunately it only runs on windows server. I was thinking to use linux to save him some money. so the server must be at least 1.5GHz of CPU with 1 gig mem, with RAID 1 or 5.
The speed of network should be 100 Mbps to workstation, and 1000 Mbps to server.
as fare as router and switch, and pix I know about cisco, but there are brands that are cheeper.
Thanks
