Help me please: SASL
 

I have fought the good battle. For some reason it took me long enough to get Sendmail to compile with SASL support. Anyways, that seems to be in place.

I've started the saslauthd, added a user with a password. But when I try to send a mail via Netscape, it doesn't accept the password to use SMTP.

I used ethereal to see that the auth request is being sent and replied with authorization failed.

How can I troubleshoot? What could be the problem? Better yet could it authenticate agains local linux users instead?

No worries, i found the problem.

I just saw your post, i'm still getting auth failed on my installation. What did you do to get yours to work?

What exactly do you want to know? Actually if you follow one of the many tuorials availbe online you'll get to the finish line with some headache.

So ask what you need to know.
