I am running linux mandrake 7.2. I want a nic that will work right out of the box. I am sick of trying to get it to work. I currently have the fa311 and I have been trying like heck to get it to work, I know a lot about computers (i have a computer professional degree) but i dont really know too much about linux and I cant get it to work. Reply with a card model or if you have good step by step instructions on how to install the fa311.

I have never had any problems with my Linksys LNE100TX on any distro I have tried so far, I think that is the model number. Its early and I can't remember.

Never had any trouble with 3-com products. Have used several models, usually 59x or 509 series-heard a few people complain about the fa311, though...

The Realtek 8139 based 10/100 cards work nicely. Plug it in. Run Hard Drake and you'll see it there. $15 regular price for the generic CompUSA "Dual Speed Ethernet Adapter" in a light blue box with a black bar across the top. I have four.
