Help in understanding a few programs

Hi, my name is Daniel, and I'm new to this forum. Pretty new to linux also. I didn't knew where I should ask for help, here (because it's mainly networking), in newbie forum (because I'm still newbie) or in distribution section. I have 12 days left to my exam in school which will tell my if I pass to next class, and what I have to do, is install slackware 13.37 (in text mode only, no GUI), then install and configure dhpcd for two network cards, vsftpd, httpd with mysql and php, and bind. Our teacher though ordered us just to learn by heart all configuration files without tolerating any typo errors (one of it, server don't work, You don't pass), and with very little time (20 minutes for httpd from memmory and with dhpcd and mysql and creating simple databese AND checking isn't an easy thing... And I've lost my notes, so please help a student in need, can someone explain me how these programs work and how to configure them (i know a little, but not enough to understand). And sorry for my english, it's not my native language.

I've requested the moderator of the Networking forum move your question to the Slackware forums since you say you need to install Slackware.

Perhaps you should review the link in my signature about how to best use the LinuxQuestions forum and then update your question with information about what you have tried.

A major tip here is that "losing your notes" is very bad if it is reality, a lousy excuse if it is that. If you attended class and if you're like me, you take horrific notes anyways, so losing them is not relevant. There are plenty of resources on the web which can guide you as to how to install Slackware (especially a version which is about 7 years old) and use the various software packages you've cited. So you probably should get searching and provide some updates to your fellow LQ members who are all volunteers and also not as invested as you should be for your course deadline.

You've typed fairly clear prose by the way, do not worry about your English skills, however please work on your initiative skills.

And Welcome to LQ! We really are happy to help, however the way the LQ forums work is that we like to see your work, read you thoughts, and see that you are trying to solve your problem with your own efforts and then we're happy to offer suggestions to get you past blocking points.

#1 is, have you downloaded the installation of Slackware version 13.37?

Thank for Your reply, and instalation is not problem, I have installed it on virtual machine. Problem is that I don't understand configuration files for dhcpd and bind mainly. And I've never been kind of guy making notes and learning from them, so even this notebook was poor. Everything I had learned so far is by understanding. That's why I'm asking, maybe there's a person who could explain me. If not, waiting here isn't the only thing I'm doing. That forum is just one way to eventualy find an explanation
