Help!! Dell D610 eth0 network issue with RH8.0
Hi,
I scratch installed RH8.0 (kernel 2.4.18-14 #1) on a new Dell D610, and could not activate eth0.
"ifconfig eth0" gave: "eth0: error fetching interface information: Device not found".
During the reboot, it says eth0 up (ok).
"service network restart" also says: "bring up interface eth0.. OK".
However, "dmesg |grep eth0" gave
"divert: not allocating divert_blk fro non-ethernet device eth0"
" divert: no divert_blk to free, eth0 not ethernet"
"kudzu -p" shows:
class: NETWORK
BUS: PCI
.......
desc: "BROADCOM Corp. | unknown device 14e4:1677"
"lsmod" shows a network module "8390 unused".
Dell support told me that the NIC in D610 is BCM570x. I tried put an "alias tg3"
in /etc/modules.conf, then I got "etho not present, failed" during reboot.
Are there anyone see this issue? Please help !!!
