HELP!3Com 3CCFE575BT network card configuration
Hi all,
I have a PCMCIA 3Com 3CCFE575BT Cyclone Cardbus card. RedHat Linux 7.2 recognizes my card. The "Hardware Browser" of RH Linux 7.2 indicates names of the card and the manufacturer exactly. It also indicates the driver 3c59x. But the card does not work. I used the "Network configuring" tool and tried everything from automatically receive IP's address (dhcp) to set up DNS server addresses without any result. I don't know what is wrong, the driver or the card (this card works perfectly in XP). My laptop is Dell Inspiron 2500 which uses OZ 6933 Cardbus controller (driver yenta_socket). Please help me! |
I don't use RedHat or that NIC card, but take a look at the PCMCIA Howto site!
Also check out the Linux Laptop site. |
I did look at those websites and try their instruction. But still no help. I don't know why. I'm a new user with Linux and network, so I don't know much about this.
Anyway, after boot, I used tail -f /var/log/messages and saw: localhost xinetd[1499]: warning: can't get client address: transport endpoint is not connected localhost dhcpcd[984]: time out waiting for a valid DHCP server response. And my network card seems sticks with 10MBps instead of 100MBps as it runs in XP. What else should I check? Please help me! |
I've a 3Com 575CT and I had to...
Re-configure and recompile my kernel. Then install the pcmcia-cs package software and I was up and rolling. I don't know why RH7.2 says it supports my card, but it don't. Mail me if you want to opt for this and I'll mail you my kernel config and recompiling notes.
