Have to run a dkms build to install acx111 driver

I'm running Crunchbang on an old IBM Thinkpad a22m, and I'm trying to get a Texas Instruments acx111 wireless working on it. I followed a guide from here:http://wiki.debian.org/acx and the instructions work until I get to the end and try to run "dkms install -m acx-mac80211 -v git". Bash says "Error! Could not locate acx-mac80211.ko for module acx-mac80211 in the dkms tree. You must run a dkms build for kernel 2.6.32-5-686 (i686) first."

And I have no idea how to run a dkms build for a kernel. I also found an Ubuntu page that may be a few years old saying that this wireless chipset works with Ubuntu, so maybe there's an easier way to go about this, although the Debian guide says something about a problem with an earlier driver.
