Got a question about network configuration

I'm new to Linux ...
Got a Red Hat 7.1 on 1 laptop & 1 desktop, I want to share both home directories, I already changed the bitcodes for reading for "group & other", I use TCP/IP, ping works, and now the stupid question :

How is it possible to access the home directory of the other computer ???

You could export the home dirs from the server using nfs, but for a system that is frequently disconnected you might want to look at coda http://www.coda.cs.cmu.edu/ . Then your notebook could have the same home dir on each system (so they say). I've never tried coda, but I will have to soon. Can't tell you much about security, other than that nfs at one time was exploitable and I have no idea what the status is on it.
