Good home/power home use firewall?

I'd like something comparable to checkpoint or astaro. If you have used either of these, which I am familiar with, can you please recommend a dedicated distro that is comparable?

Ive looked at, but havent tried the usual suspects like ipcop, mono, smooth, pfsense, etc. Are any of these anywhere remotely as good as checkpoint or astaro?

Thanks!

you can't compare checkpoint to Astaro. Astaro is wholly in the same boat as ipcop and pfsense, just with a more commercial base, and is really quite similar - just yet another linux distro that's aimed at firewalling. Checkpoint gear is a totally different product for high end firewalling within enterprise.

I have to disagree with your assessment, as I use both checkpoint and astaro. Back to my question, is there anything comparable to either? Anything comparable to astaro if you dislike the association? I just installed pfsense, and its utter garbage.

i would say that ipcop (with some addons) would be very comparable.
