Giving a user CHMOD rights to the /var/www/html directory?

Hey guys....

First of all, thanks to GAVollink for helping me with my previous problem/issue.

Here's where I am at right now....
Using GAVollink's advice I set up a user in a group called web and gave him rights to the /var/www/html directory. I also soft linked him so that when the "user" logs into FTP he can see the web site files in his home directory.....

Ok, good and well....all that works!

Now, I want to be able to give this user the rights to CHMOD files within the web site directory (/var/www/html...or now.... /home/user/html/html)

How do I do this?

Thanks in advance for any and all help! You guys who contribute make this site ROCK!!!!

Later,
Kevin L.

Usually by default, if they are the owner of a file or dir, they can chmod the files within it. Just make sure they have rw permissions on the files either with owner or group permissions.

Ok, but how do I make sure they have rw permissions? If they dont have them...how do I assign them to the user?

Thanks,

ls -al will give all the rwx permissions along with the owner and group ownership of the file or directory. Make sure they are either part of the group with rw permissions or the owner with rw permissions. If they can write, they usually have access to change the permissions of the files.
