gigabit card in rh7.2

I installed RH7.2 on a PC with two on-board Intel LAN cards.
The 10/100 card was detected but the gigabit card (Intel Pro/1000) was not.

Checking intel website I saw that all gigabit cards are supported by kernel2.4.x.

Please give some insight on how I can make this work.

TIA,
Luie
