Smile getting the location through the ipaddress


Hello,
Which cmd can i use to get an idea of an IP address's location in the world in Linux .i knew about traceroute,nslookup etc.how do those websites correctly locating my address please help me with tracking/tracing ipv4/ipv6 addresses

hostip.info has an api and website you can easy interact with. they use an official online database to hold the information, i'm sure there are various tools easily interact with services like this if you don't want to script your own.

afaik "whois" command and "host" will be helpful as for me.
