Have been trying to figure out this problem since last week, after my ISP has changed the pppoe access concentrator at my location. Since then, I can't connect to their server using any Linux OS, while a windows machine works fine everytime without fail.
I tried contacting their customer support, but got the default answer 'Linux OS is not supported by them'. Looking at the log files, it seems to be a simple issue but I haven't been able to find out the cause.
a. Connection works fine everytime if I just reboot the machine to Windows, so it does not seem like an issue with the link. [Though I tried plugging it tightly to the port without any luck]
b. The pppd log looks similar if I try connecting using a DSL router (TP-Link TLWR740N, openwrt, pppd 2.4.5 rp-pppoe 3.8p), so it definitely seems to be some issue with pppd not being able to negotiate well with the new server.
plugin rp-pppoe.so eth0
Tried all sorts of solutions from fiddling with ppp options to re-crimping the lan wire with a new RJ45 clip.. Can somebody please have a look at the files and suggest something?
