Getting Network Card to Work (RHL 9)

I'm having difficulty getting my network card to work with RHL 9; it would not work with Gentoo 2005.1 or Knoppix either. The card is a D-Link DFE-530TX, and is the first time it is being used in any system. The motherboard is a Dell Dimension 4100 (i815 chipset, PIII).

ifconfig:
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:163 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:163 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:11132 (10.8 Kb) TX bytes:11132 (10.8 Kb)

ifconfig eth0:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:50:BA:44:9B:26
BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:100
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
Interrupt:3 Base address:0xac00

dmesg:
eth0: RealTek RTL8139 Fast Ethernet at 0xc88cac00, 00:50:ba:44:9b, IRQ 3

lspci:
Ethernet Controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.

eth0 is Inactive under Network Device Control. I am behind a Linksys Wireless-B router, with DHCP. Any help is appreciated.

This isn't a problem with your card, you just need to properly configure it for wireless services. Clearly your machine and OS's are loading the correct drivers or you wouldn't see the card listed with ifconfig. What do you get when you run iwconfig? Have you tried running dhcpcd to attain an IP address? Any error messages?
