Getting Belkin Wireless G+ USB Adaptor to work with Linux - impossible?

Hi everyone,

I am absolute noobo to Linux and have installed a copy of Linux Puppy. I have managed to connect to my router via ethernet ok but am finding it absolutely impossible to connect via my Belkin router - F5D7051 P10650-C.

As per this guide,

I have tried adding these five files to a folder and running the inf file, but keep getting "bcmrndis:Invalid driver".

As I said, I am an absolute novice to Linux and would be really grateful if anyone could talk me through getting this thing to work.

One thing that concerns me is that when I plug the device in, absolutely nothing happens - maybe I am just basing what I know on windows, but shouldn't Linux at least react when I add a new usb device?

Please help!

To answer your question, no linux does not have plug and play. Linux does have drivers for a lot of the wireless cards now but the usb still need a little work. Here is a tutorial I found that may be easier for you.

The "bcmmds:Invalid driver" is probably a windows driver and linux does not like windows drivers unless you use them in a program called ndiswrapper which you do not want to use for this.
