Hi,
Please can anyoone tell me which file ifconfig reads to get the ipadress, or in which file is ipaddress stored.

In RedHat it is stored on /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-etho
i need to know which file it is on genttoo

ifconfig actually reads kernel memory..

However, rc-update adds a link to /etc/init.d/net.eth~ (which is a link to /etc/int.d/net.lo)

The config data is saved in /etc/conf.d/net
