General Network and Printing help
Here's the setup:
DSL run through Linksys Wireless router.
Main Box running MEPIS 3.3.1 (with USB printer attached to be used by laptop too)
Wireless laptop running Windows XP Pro
Both computers have access to internet. That all works great.
However, I have a couple of general network problems in terms of each computer being visible on the network:
(1) ==Mod Edit==
(2) I cannot get printing to work at all from the Windows laptop. Again, I have tried many very detailed tutorials on configuring CUPS, configuring Samba, installing postscript drivers, etc. (There seem to be about five different ways you can configure things to get a Windows machine to print to the Linux printers).
But still no joy. I have successfully installed the network printer on the Windows machine. It can be browsed and is connected. But any jobs sent just die and Windows returns and error to the effect of "Can't start printer" or something like that. (It's NOT access-denied).
So, I would be very grateful if anyone could walk me through setting up the network and printing. I don't mind starting from scratch and I'm not afraid of the CLI and config files. I just need to get them straight somehow.
Many thanks in advance...
Mark
