Gateway system not getting valid IP address
 
I installed Mandrake 9.0 on a Gateway PC with a 1GHz cpu, 128 MB ram. Installation went fine, but when booting, the computer will not logon to the network. The system says "Bring up network and getting valid IP address" and says "FAILED". What is going on I am on a College network with a T1 line, there are Win2k DNS and DHCP servers. How do I change the host name of the PC? I think it is not letting it because of that.

use the command "hostname whatever_u_call_it" or you can put
"HOSTNAME=whatever_u_call_it" in your
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
