Full X Window access from MS Windows using cygwin

I want to use my laptop, with Windows XP Pro and cygwin installed, to get full access of my Linux box using Fedora Core 1. Both are on the same network.

The purpose is to use wireless connection while I am in the living room or the back yard to get full access, i.e. KDE Windows.

Is it doable?

1st you have to setup you linux box as XDMCP

here's some hints:

http://www.linux-mag.com/2003-03/guru_02.html

/etc/inittab =>8:2345:respawn:/usr/bin/gdm -nodeamon

/etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf =>Change the line that reads

enable=false to enable=true

xdm-config=>DisplayManager.requestPort: 177

X -configure if the X system has not been configured

Now test it!

From Cygwin:
XWin.exe -query YOURSEVERNAME

From another X system:
X -query YOURSEVERNAME:# (where # is the display number)

Good luck!
