ftpchroot and ftpd-ssl

Hi there,
I'm a :newbie: to this board, I've used the search function but it didn't show up anything useful to me.

I've installed ftpd-ssl as my ftp server (run by inetd). I'd like to ftpchroot all users in their homedirectories /home/user. My /etc/ftpchroot contains only the usernames:

user1
user2
...

When I connect using one of these usernames, i can upload files, but i can't see anything at all in the directory listing. I've tried several ftp-clients (from windows-pcs) and none of them worked.
When removing the names from /etc/ftpchroot everything works fine except the fact that all users can see all files...
Does anybody have a solution for this problem? (Please explain it to me as if I were 5 years old as I'm quite new to Linux...);)

It seems I'm the only one facing this problem? Nobody ever had similar problems?
