ftp user permissions

quick permissions questoin

I have a folder that is used in several ways. THe folder contains contents that is accessed by network users with read only access. The folder is also set so that a specifice user has write access. The folder is also set so that a ftp user has read and write access.

But now i need some help creating a ftp user to have read only access.

For the internal network i have samba controling the permissions of the shared name. For example the shared folder "digital" info is read only to all users but the share folder "uploaddigital" is read and wite only to the user mark

I have the folder set so that markftp can access the folder via ftp with read and write permissions set by the folders permissions property drwxrwdr-x. markftp is the owner and the group is mark

so how can i create a ftp user for read only access.

Thanks

So:

Folders:
Digital -
Owner: Mark - Read Only
Group: Mark - Read Only
Other - Read Only
UploadDigital -
Owner: Mark - Read and Write
Group: Mark - Read and Write
Other - Read Only

markftp in group mark

If this is the case then the new user should not be in the group mark for with folder and then they wont have write access.
