FTP Problem

Very strange:

Connected per modem to a UNIX server and logged in successfully as root. Attempted a "get command for a file. Not only did it not retrieve the file, but it nulled out the existing file(from 2 meg to -0-). I've done this before through a router but not through a modem. What happened?

Why root? Did you try a smaller file? Maybe there are limits on download sizes?

Did it on an 85 meg file on a LAN as root. I don't think size made a differnece. Maybe its the modem?
