FTP module?
Hi all,
I am having no luck loading ftp module.
I am using RedHat 7.1, got masquerading and firewalling set up with ipchains, and opened ftp ports so I can access the internet from my local network. But I do not have the ftp module loaded.
RedHat comes with some NetFilter module, ip_nat_ftp.o
When I try an insmod ip_nat_ftp.o, I get:
ip_nat_ftp.o: unresolved symbol ip_conntrack_expect_related_Ree85aab5
ip_nat_ftp.o: unresolved symbol ip_nat_expect_register_R22ca4f64
ip_nat_ftp.o: unresolved symbol ip_nat_helper_register_Rd999d6f2
ip_nat_ftp.o: unresolved symbol ip_nat_expect_unregister_R5ca5c902
ip_nat_ftp.o: unresolved symbol ip_nat_cheat_check_R1e4e73a8
ip_nat_ftp.o: unresolved symbol ip_nat_setup_info_Rd1af8d2b
ip_nat_ftp.o: unresolved symbol ip_nat_helper_unregister_Rdadfe31d
How can I get FTP to work?
DaFonz newbie.

I got ip_nat_ftp loaded, by unloading ipchains (modprobe -r ipchains) and loading iptables and all that stuff with modprobe.
However, ftp still doesn't work. Locally I can get PASSIVE ftp connections, but the masqueraded machines can not do ftp at all.
Everything else works fine on the masqueraded machines, http, smtp, pop, telnet, etc. So it has to do with the ftp module not working. ;-(
My firewall does not block ports 20 and 21.
Does the ftp module perhaps take certain parameters?
Fonz.

Hey,
I'm not really sure what you are talking about when you say ftp module. I am using ipchains on my Linux server and my local machines can ftp just fine without worrying about modules. All I did is add the rule to forward any traffic from the local network out to the internet. Sorry if this wasn't any help...

You need to make sure that you also load the module ip_conntrack_ftp before loading ip_nat_ftp.

I did load the ip_conntrack_ftp.
When I did "modprobe ip_nat_ftp" a whole bunch of the modules were automatically loaded, iptables, conntrack, and ftp modules.
Still no luck... ;-(
