How do you enable the ftp protocol for your systemm?

check your /etc/services file....

you will have to add this lines....


ftp-data 20/tcp
ftp-data 20/udp
ftp 21/tcp
ftp 21/udp


this will enable the ftp protocol, but remember you need to have the ftp program.

thats what im looking for... where would i get the ftp program... i dont believe it is on my cd's

do a search on http://sourceforge.net for FTP.. there are tons to choose from.

Are you looking to setup a ftp server on your comp or just ftp from your comp?

You think its not in your CD`s....

I`m Sure that both the ftp client/server programs are in one of your cd`s....keep looking...I haven`t seen any distro that doesnt come with an ftp server/client.

by any chance do you have an idea wht the program is called? i have mandrake 8.1
