Fresh Ubuntu 7.04 behind DLink Router - No internet

Well, I'm something of a Windows user... Okay, I have five Windows machines. But I have been wanting to toy around with Linux since I got into PHP a couple years ago. Anyway, never was much good at any Linux stuff and just installed Ubuntu after I got sick of SUSE and the 3 failed attempts to install it - no idea.

Anyway, problems with both installs have been that I can't connect to the internet: LAN and WAN have been out of reach on this computer ever since I put Linux on it. It was running with Vista Beta 2, before, but that beat the heck outta the hardware and was slow as ****! Under all OSs, it's been wired behind a D-Link DGL-4300. So yeah, I have no idea what I'm doing here with any Linux stuff. Tried toying around with the network settings, but no matter what, I can't ping even the router. I can see that it's recognized, but I don't remember what the onboard piece is. I have a few spares lying around that I could also try later. Kinda at school now.

So if anyone could help out, it would be greatly appreciated. Tried searching around, but whenever I think something might help, it kinda loses me in the text! lol

Well you're picking up an IP address. Can you ping another machine on the network or any website?

Same issue as OP, and I cannot ping other computers on the router or on the web. Using a Linksys router though.

Some variables different but nothing drastic I believe. using a NetXtreme BCM5752 by Broadcom.

Yeah, that's a manual setting. Sorry. No pings are possible with that or this.

On DHCP
